Willacy VINELink Is Now IVSS
Texas replaced VINE for county and court notifications with Texas IVSS-Counties in 2025. Existing VINE registrations moved to the new system. IVSS can provide notices by phone, text, and email for booking, release, court changes, transfer to TDCJ, death, and escape. It is a notification service, not a permanent release archive.
The official Willacy County Sheriff page still points to VINELink. That link documents the former system, but current users should follow the newer statewide direction. The old link does not prove that Willacy now supplies data to IVSS. Research did not find an official list that affirmatively confirms Willacy participation, so coverage should be checked with WCSO or IVSS support.
County IVSS and TDCJ Victim Services are separate layers. A Willacy County Jail event belongs to the county system. A documented transfer into TDCJ moves the person to the state-prison layer, where notices can cover parole review, Board action, release to supervision, discharge, and some warrant events.
Search a Willacy County Inmate
Use the most exact identifier available. IVSS accepts a full or partial name, DOC ID, SID, Jail ID, or permanent booking number. Partial names broaden results. The portal suggests at least the first three letters of first and last names, separated by a space. An agency number is safer when two people share a name.

- Read each status and date by its exact label.
- If no match appears, check spelling and contact the agency that held the person.
People no longer in custody may not appear. Disappearance is not proof of release, transfer, or discharge. Willacy IVSS Search Fields
The IVSS interface exposes fields that help separate similar names and distinguish a forecast from a completed event. Live post-release wording and anonymous historical access were not fully verified, so a specific released-result label cannot be promised.

Register for Willacy Release Alerts
IVSS permits registration with or without an account. An account can manage contact methods, show notice history, pause messages, and set preferred hours. Keep the registration attached to the correctly matched record. If the person disappears after release, a saved registration may reactivate after later custody.

- Enter phone, text, or email details and preferences.
- Complete the confirmation prompts shown by the current portal.
- Save the registration and update it when contact needs change.
Legacy Texas VINE phone calls used a chosen four-digit PIN to acknowledge a notice and stop repeat calls. Current public IVSS instructions do not document that PIN. Follow the current prompts rather than an old VINE walkthrough. Support at 866-268-8959 is published as a round-the-clock English and Spanish service.
Willacy Release Alert Limits
Notices depend on participating agencies and the data they send. Delay, spelling errors, source mismatch, or missing local participation can prevent a useful result. A person who has left custody may also vanish from search. None of these outcomes proves what happened.
For WCSO custody, request the jail-register and booking-out entries showing release date, time, type, and receiving agency if transferred. For state custody, use the TDCJ locator and direct information service. A projected date, parole approval, or scheduled date is not actual release. Federal sentence custody belongs in BOP, federal pretrial custody belongs with the court and USMS, and ICE uses ODLS.

Why Willacy's VINE Link Misleads
WCSO directly endorsed VINELink, but Texas later moved county and court alerts to IVSS-Counties. Willacy's county page therefore shows why a notification link must be checked against newer state guidance. The old direction explains why VINELink still appears in search results, yet it does not override the successor platform.
The Attorney General transition notice is the stronger source for the current system. It also explains that prior registrations moved. Even so, neither source confirms Willacy's present data feed. Confirm local participation and use WCSO records for documentary proof.

Willacy TDCJ Release Notifications
TDCJ Victim Services is the state-prison channel for a person committed from Willacy County into TDCJ. It can provide eligible notices about parole review, Board decisions, upcoming release, supervision, discharge, and some warrant activity. Contact 800-848-4284 or victim.svc@tdcj.texas.gov.
The ordinary TDCJ locator mainly covers current inmates. It may show location, offenses, and Projected Release Date, but it is not a promised permanent archive of discharged people. If it fails, TDCJ's email information service is the official fallback. Keep that state route separate from a Willacy County Jail alert.

Confirm Willacy Release Notifications
A release notice answers only what the participating source reported. It does not show whether another agency immediately took custody, whether supervision began, or whether the full sentence ended. Ask WCSO for the existing jail-register and booking-out entries. A narrow request should identify the person, booking date, jail ID when known, and cause number. Request the release date, time, type, and receiving agency if the entry records a transfer.
The court record adds legal context. A bond order permits release under stated terms, but it does not prove the jail finished processing. A dismissal may resolve one charge while another hold remains. A commitment can explain movement to TDCJ. Willacy's online court portal may show the filing trail without document images, so record the cause number, filing title, and date, then ask the proper clerk for the actual order.
TDCJ dates require the same care. Projected means calculated, scheduled means processing has advanced, and actual release records the custody event. Release to parole or mandatory supervision is not final discharge. Keeping the agency name beside each date prevents a county notice from being mistaken for a state sentence result.
Willacy Alerts Across Custody Systems
The Texas Public Sex Offender Registry is a separate, narrow source. It may show a person with a current Chapter 62 registration duty long after release, but it is not a general released-person list. Its fields do not establish a jail release date. Absence proves neither custody nor lack of release.
Federal and immigration cases need different tools. BOP status concerns federal sentence custody, while USMS records and the docket may control a pretrial case. ICE ODLS can include some recent ICE releases, yet release may leave check-ins or court proceedings. IVSS should not be stretched across those systems.
A saved alert should be reviewed when contact details change. If the matching record is uncertain, pause and compare identifiers before registering. That step reduces the chance of receiving notices about another person with a similar name and keeps the Willacy County search tied to the right custodian.
